With more than 10 years’ experience of writing professionally, including the publication of my debut novel Definitions in 2015, I have developed an in-depth knowledge of what agents and publishers expect to see from a submitted manuscript. I have been through the full process of drafting, editing, pitching, publishing and marketing a novel; using my background in PR and marketing to analyse what a book needs to get the attention of an agent or publisher.

My Creative Writing Masters and postgraduate teaching, included how to pitch to agents and publishers, as well as good social media practice for writers. I have judged fiction competitions and spoken in schools and at high-profile events on writing as a career.

My commended short stories and novel extracts feature in a number of publications, competitions and journals. In my PR roles, I have worked on everything from art to astrophysics, used by national media, with nominations including ‘Breakthrough Story of the Year’ from Science News.

As an English BA and Writing MA with a background in commercial copywriting, I am able to provide an editing and proofreading service that meets the highest standards of spelling, grammar and punctuation.

I have written feature articles for a wide variety of print and online publications, covering everything from football to music festivals, and my screenwriting portfolio has received a professional recommendation from an award-winning industry expert.

My freelance editing career began with Clare Coombes’ debut novel Definitions, which has since been published both in paperback and through Amazon Kindle by Benion Kearney of London.

I work to guidelines set by the Society for Editors and Proofreaders - of which I am an accredited member -  and take great pride in being able to help writers turn a rough draft into a polished, publishable manuscript.
