Joe Conroy
Joe Conroy
Born and raised in Liverpool, Joe’s mum said he was always running about with a notepad in hand (and likely a sparkly fluffy pen to accompany) - his persistent fascination with writing hasn’t gone away.
At eighteen Joe moved to London. While studying, he continued to write, absorbing himself in libraries and literature. He was hugely struck by realist, picaresque novels that dived into the lives of those who were living on the so-called ‘side-lines of society’. Joe was consistently captivated by works that seemed to investigate the human condition and yet were compellingly humorous. Some personal literary heroes of his include Joan Didion, Deborah Levy and Zadie Smith.
Cipher Press has signed Joe’s bold literary debut about queer masculinity and trauma. More news to follow soon.
